November 20, 2018 UPDATE

Dear People of Good Will,

I'd like to give you an update and share with you a few pictures of "Our Little Great Miracle" Martynka. Unfortunately her illness doesn't stop and she has to go through another round of chemotherapy in Katowice in Poland this week. In between her frequent visits to the hospital Martynka spends time with her parents and with her little brother Maximilian who was just baptized over the weekend.

During the baptismal Mass Martynka's parents: Emilia and Michael, together with family members and friends prayed for a miraculous healing for her at St. Terese of a Little Flower Church in Rybnik, their hometown.

Last Friday,  Martynka become a Millionaire, a Polish Millionaire!!! The people in Poland raised for her continuing treatment 1,000,000 Polish zlotych, which is over $260,000 US and that is a great news! But she is still in needs over $160,000 US for the treatment in Germany.

On behalf of Martynka and her parents, I’d like to thank you for your prayers and financial support. Please, do not stop praying for her and sharing her story. Every dollar gets her closer to her very expensive treatment.

May God bless all of you!

With a humbled and thankful heart, Fr. Tom

Martynka Kaczmarek is only four (4) years old. She should be running and playing and discovering the beauty and wonder of this world. Instead, her childhood suddenly ended about six months ago when she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma - one of the most aggressive cancers affecting the nervous system. Now, instead of enjoying kindergarten and playing with her new little brother, she has been diagnosed with Stage IV Neuroblastoma - an aggressive cancer that has metastasized to the liver, lungs, bones and marrow.

Martynka was treated in the best Polish hospitals and clinics in Katowice, Cracow and Wrocław, but her only chance for survival is an expensive treatment (about $425,000 US) at a clinic in Greifswald in Germany.

The TASK IS LARGE - TIME IS SHORT!

The cost of treatment is far beyond her family’s means. Many are trying to help the family through a campaign with the Polish charity - Kawalek-Nieba (Children and Ill People Help Foundation “A Piece of Heaven”) which raises funds for children’s health emergencies:  https://www.kawalek-nieba.pl/martynka-kaczmarek/?lang=en .

But it is hard for those in the US who want to help to donate directly to the organization because wire transfer fees are involved (about $45 per donation) - BUT we can’t just stand by and do nothing, so we have launched this Go Fund Me Campaign. We will collect funds and transfer to the agency in Poland who is collecting donations - eliminating transfer fees for individual donations.

Please read this personal message from Fr.Tom Wilisowski about Martynka:

Jesus said: “…whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”

Dear People of Good Will,

Everything you just read - it’s true! I know Martynka Kaczmarek, her family, and her story through her great grandma who is a parishioner of my hometown parish in Jaslo, Poland.

A few months ago my Mom called me asking for prayers for Martynka, right after she was diagnosed with cancer. Together with some people from St. Andrew’s and St. Clare parishes we started to pray for her and her family. Since that moment I’ve been in touch regularly with Martynka’s parents - Michal and Emilia.

Believe me, even though Martynka’s situation is very difficult, her parents fight, still have hope, they pray, and do everything they can to save their daughter. They have many people praying, and supporting them in Poland and outside. They really see God’s grace and His presence through this unbelievably difficult time in their life.

If I may, I humbly ask you to remember Martynka in your prayers, and if you are able to also make a donation for her very expensive treatment. Your support is greatly appreciated.

May God Bless all of You,

Fr. Tom Wilisowski
