Martinson Family Medical Fund

Joshua Martinson is a loving 36-year-old husband and father of three children: 8-year-old twins and a 3-year-old.  Josh and his wife, Alissa, have been married since 2006.  They are both pastors and are currently living in Fosston, MN, where they moved from the Twin Cities in 2016 in order to accept a ministry position there.

In 2015, Josh suffered two heart attacks that left one of his arteries dead, but he recovered very well and was living a normal, active life.  Then, on Christmas morning of this year, Josh had a massive heart attack that has done extensive damage to his heart.  He was transported from the hospital in Fosston to the one in Bemidji, where the doctors put in two stents.  Unfortunately, these two stents have already closed up, and he only had one working artery left on the evening of the 25th.  He continued to have smaller heart attacks and severe pain throughout the next two days, and this has left his heart with very little function remaining.  The doctors have said that there isn't anything else they can do for him there in Bemidji, so they are airlifting him to the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, where he will hopefully receive some answers and get on track to having a heart transplant.

Josh's heart problems are due to a genetic disorder that he was unaware of prior to his heart attack.  The resulting medical bills are going to be a huge burden on this young family.  They have already been warned by the doctors that the airlift to the U of M will most likely not be covered by their insurance because it is his second transport.  To make matters worse, Josh just started a new job a couple of weeks ago, so he has no PTO and will not be receiving any sort of paycheck during the time he spends off work.  That will make the family's ability to pay normal bills, such as rent, phone, utilities, insurance, etc. very difficult on top of all the medical expenses.  This young family is facing a very long, uncertain road ahead.  Josh's wife and kids just want Daddy home and healthy and don't need the added stress of all the financial burdens.  Any contribution you're able to make to lighten their load is a huge blessing and will be greatly appreciated.
