Martinez, Dizon, Lafon - Tubbs Fire

On October 9th, 2017. My grandma and aunt's houses were tragically lost in the Sonoma County Tubbs fire. My family had no time to grab any valuables as they were barely able to escape as the neighborhood slowly became engulfed in flames. Nothing hurts my heart more than seeing the pain and anguish on my grandma and aunt's face as they learned that the home they worked so hard for, was gone. My family is my hero, and knowing what they had to go through (basically starting with nothing in the Philippines) in order to succeed, only heightened the pain in my heart. My family's dream come true was when they were finally able to mortgage their dream home, located in the Coffey Park Area, this would be the home where my siblings, cousins and I would grow up in. The day before the fire, my family had a BBQ get together at my grandma's house (just as we've done countless times before), while at the BBQ we decided to ride our boosted boards around the neighborhood and surrounding areas to reminisce where we grew up and made childhood memories. Little did we know that this would be our last look at our neighborhood as we knew it and also our last family BBQ at our grandma's house.
