Martina's Kroka Expedition

Dear friends and family,
I'm planning to endeavor on a 5 month trek into the wilderness with Kroka Expeditions. I will leave this January and return in June. There will be 13 other teens and 2 leaders. During the first three months I will be in freezing temperatures cross country skiing from New Hampshire to the Uapishka mountains in Canada. Rising at 6am every morning, I carry all my gear and food, while helping with team supplies. This includes carrying the wood burning stove or canvas tent that will house us each night in the snow. Some nights drop as low as -40 degrees fahrenheit. At the end of the winter I will be white water rafting in streams of snowmelt. Finally, in spring I will be rowing and mountain biking back to base camp (still carrying all my gear). After physical activities during the day, we will have intense academics in the evening. This will include reading over six books and writing essays, so as to keep up with my high school curriculum.
I want to do this extreme program because I feel that I'm going to gain strength and confidence and discover important aspects of myself through the rigors of living in the wilderness. I feel that this program will challenge me greatly and push me to my edge, but it is there at the edge where I will learn the most about myself. Having this experience without the comfort of my family I believe is essential to this time of discovery for me. I believe this experience of hard physical work and profound connection to my team will build a foundation for me to find my path in this world.
It would mean a lot to me if you could contribute any amount that feels comfortable towards helping fund these next six months. I'm trying to raise some of the cost to not leave it all on my parents and take more ownership for this experience I'm seeking.
