My brother Martin Flores is a 26 year old father of two. He works full-time and is an amazing provider to his family. Martin has the biggest heart in the world and it has really shown by all the support we have received these past few days. He has touched the lives of many and he could really use your help now.
For the last couple month Martin has suffered severe headaches, blurry vision, lack of sleep/ appetite and overall has not felt great. On Wed, Oct 9th he was in a car accident that caused those symptoms to get much worse. On top of that the driver that hit his car gave false information and left him with that bill. After trying to get down to the bottom of his symptoms he was scheduled an appointment with the optometrist on Sun, Oct 13th. As they scanned his eyes they noticed a large amount of swelling and something pushing against his optic nerve. He was directly sent to the E.R. and had a CT Scan show a large mass in the frontal left quadrant of his brain. He was given steroids to help with the inflammation and transported to another hospital with a specialist in Neurology. He was put directly into the Intensive Care Unit. After an MRI was complete, they found that there was a tumor that was nearly 3 inches in diameter and would have to be removed. On Tue, Oct 15th Martin went into surgery around 3:15pm. Surgery ended around 11pm and the majority of the tumor was removed.
As of now Martin is still in the ICU recovering. He can move, speak and eat fine but is still having vision issues. We are confident if we can continue with the amazing care he has received and continued prayers that his vision will improve. He had a follow up MRI this morning (Oct. 16) around 4 am and we are still waiting for results. The tumor that was removed is being sent for testing and we will have results within the next 5-7 business days. Regardless he will have to have radiation to help with what could not be safely removed.
Martin is a fighter but he will be out of work for a minimum of a month and his spouse will have to take the next 2 weeks off to care for him.
