As we all know Hurricane Dorian has devastated Marsh Harbor, and the Bahamas. We have been vacationing in the Bahamas for over 10 years, and have kept our boat in the MarshHarbor Marina area for many of those years. We have met and become friends with many locals and their families.
Our friends that have helped us many times with maintenance of our boat, helping us out of many different situations, rescued us when our engines failed, and ultimately just become great friends. Bahamians are the friendliest people on earth.
As a result of Hurricane Dorian, Marsh Harbor is totally gone, our friends are now homeless and virtually have nothing, no homes, no food, no clothing, damaged cars, with no basic human needs. The now need to start from scratch with nothing. We all know the Government will eventually get around to ramping up basic services, however, the time to help is now!
We are raising funds to help them and their families start over. Our boat is currently now in Nassau as a result of several dock hands (friends) moving our boat and several others prior to the Hurricane.
We will initially look to provide food, clothing, and basic needs via shuttling our boat and others if available back and forth from Nassau to Marsh with supplies as needed, as they start to rebuild their lives. Then provide what ever assistance they will additionally need and we can provide.
Willie and Deon are in Nassau and communicating with family and relatives on island. His Grandmother who is recovering from a Heart Attack and 1 year old child are now sick. Buy tomorrow this time hopefully the boat will have deposited needed supplies and returned with several sick and injured family members.
Our Goal is to raise a minimum of $100,000 for these families. Please contribute what ever you can, every dollar will help these folks literally survive as they begin to put their lives back together.
