Marlin's Cancer Fight Fundraiser

Family & Friends,

As many of you know, my Dad, Marlin, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this spring. His cancer was declared stage 3, a 30% chance to survive, with a large tumor attached to a vital artery, making the tumor unable to be surgically removed.

Two months ago, his life was in jeopardy as the tumor grew and obstructed his small intestines making it impossible for him to eat or drink. He was put in critical care, surviving soley from feeding tubes in order to bring his body back to a somewhat healthy state. He remained under intensive care until the doctors deemed it safe to perform surgery to help remove the obstruction and reconfigure his intenstines around the enlarged tumor. After four weeks of tubes and surgery, he was finally released and given the instruction to restart chemo immediately.

Since then, he has successfully undergone 8 chemo treatments. He has been to John Hopkins for a second opinion and they are recommending advancing him to radiation by the beginning of October. The tumor is shrinking and the cancer count is diminishing but the tumor remains attached to the vital organ.

I am creating this fundraiser in hopes to help raise money to cover my dad's medical bills as well as his financial ones. When he is working, he works two jobs to support his wife Michele and my younger brother. He is a self employeed drywaller and restaurant manager. However, he  has been unable to work for the past 6 months but has still managed to make it work on a very tight budget. My Dad is an amazing and accomplished individual and he conitinues to amaze me, even in the worst of times. My Dad has always been a self starter, a business owner, self employed, and a hard working man. This fundraiser will help support my family's immediate needs and relieve  a portion of financial pressure allowing Marlin to focus on his continued fight with cancer.

My Dad's income will pause within the next two weeks making a tight budget even tighter, which is why I took the initiative to set up this fundraiser. Please join me in supporting my family as we fight against cancer.
