Please help us save Marley!

Marley came into our life’s almost 9 years ago. Little did we know our hearts would be overtaken by this puppy who had the sweetest face and the biggest eyes. He makes a mark, no matter where he goes, and this wonderful little guy has been a constant, loving companion since the moment he walked in our door.

That is why our hearts are breaking with the news of his diagnosis. He has a Mast Cell Tumor that has metastasized and is advancing in size – a bit larger than a golf ball – at this point. He has been poked and prodded to see if we can save his leg or if we need to take further measures. He has been such a trooper through it all! We are currently waiting for his prognosis and see if surgery and chemotherapy will be the best options or if we have to approach this from a different angle. Ultimately, our goal is to make sure he is not suffering and as comfortable as possible. If he still has good life to live, we want to be able to give him that chance.

Marley isn’t just a dog to us…he is the true definition of a “fur baby.” His impact on our lives, and many others, is hard to articulate and do him justice. He has a personality. He doesn’t just walk down the street, he walks with a swagger, so you have to notice him.

Let me try to explain why he is so different. First off, what dog likes to sleep in till 10:30 a.m. If you try to take him out any earlier, you’re going to be walking yourself. He knows what he wants and how to get it. If there is wet food in the house, he knows it and will go on a hunger strike. You can’t just give Marley any type of water, it has to be spring water. He has been stung by a bee twice trying to literally smell the roses and that still hasn’t stopped him. Smarter than the average, he has managed to beep the car horn at someone in the cross walk and then duck out of sight. If you want to calm this Boston Terrier down, you play him a little jazz or put on a play from the BBC. If you want him to watch tv just put on Liverpool F.C. and he will sit and watch the game. Marley makes such an impact that he has been invited to parties, gallery openings, and dinner just from people stopping us on walks. People would say, “your invited too”, which is funny since he can’t take himself. These types of stories can go on for days, but these few stories give you a little understanding into our Marley’s life.

Anyone who’s had a beloved “fur baby” knows what we’re going through. The feeling of your heart weighing so much and as much as you try and stay strong and not let the tears flow, they are impossible to stop. Normally that little dog would lick the tears from your face on those sad days to make everything feel like it was going to be ok, even if it was just for that moment. This time your tears are for that little fur baby with the saddest eyes that is so helpless and sick. You want this cancer just to magically disappear but it’s just not that easy.

So, we ask with very sad and heavy hearts for help to save Marley. Help from the people who have seen him grow, friends, neighbors, followers, dog park friends, Boston lovers, Furry Baby lovers, LFC Fans, anyone that has seen this wonderful dog whether through a picture or in person. We need his happy little face around more than he probably needs us. Without Marley’s unwavering, exuberant personality, many struggles over the years would have been much harder.

Please help us give him one last chance to live his happy life!
