Marlene is a soft-spoken, single mom of a kind and athletic teenage boy. In November 2013, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Though it broke her heart and felt weak, she fought and finished her chemo sessions. Good news came and she was cured.
However, less than a year later, in one of her post check-ups, despite living a healthy lifestyle, the doctor found something alarming, did a series of tests and found out that the Big C is back.
She was devastated but the will to fight for her life and for her son is so much stronger. Another series of chemo sessions took place, unfortunately, it did not improve her condition. In fact, the cancer was spreading fast throughout her petite frame - neck, rectum and stomach (just in mid July 2017).
She consulted different doctors for second, third (and so on) opinions - the findings are all the same. The last one even told her to just enjoy the remaining days of her life and not waste her energy on treatment.
Though chemotherapy is ongoing, she also would like to try alternative treatments like the one offered by Cancer Center for Healing (https://www.cancercenterforhealing.com/) - no more radiation which kills both good and bad cells. However, prices for this treatment are unbelievably expensive. Family members and friends, both in the US and in the Philippines, have been with her in this journey - emotionally, spiritually, and financially. However, funds are really becoming thin and this alternative treatment is not covered by insurance.
With this, we know we need others to help us help Marlene fight for the chance to see her boy become a fine man that he is destined to be.
