Hi Everyone-
Six years ago, my parents moved out of the home in which we were raised and moved to the outskirts of Beaumont, Texas. Thrilled to downsize, my parents found a place that was "just the right size" to enjoy the next chapter of their lives together.
Last week, Hurricane Harvey wreaked destructive havok on Southeast Texas and my parents' home was, unfortunately, not spared. They have not yet been allowed back into their subdivision but we know from aerial photos that the entire neighborhood has water up to the rooflines.
If you've met Marlene and Eldridge, you know they're two of the sweetest people walking this earth. They both dedicated their lives to education and teaching the youth of Southeast Texas. I can't remember a time when my parents' students weren't dropping by the house to say hello or check in, letting Mom and Dad know how much they impacted their lives. I am proud to be the son of these two beloved individuals in their community.
Many people have reached out to ask how they can help. I have started this campaign in efforts to raise funds to assist my parents as they enter the process of picking up the pieces and rebuilding their home. They do not have flood insurance and are both retired, which means, simply, that they do indeed need help.
