Marla Kay Shiplet

This is for Marla. This is to help Balee and Dustin give the proper goodbye to their beautiful mother. Please read below and know how much of a fighter and a beautiful soul Marla was.

Just take a second and whisper to yourself the name Marla Kay Shiplet. Now that you have said her name I can imagine a memory or a set memories are going through your mind about her. It may be a memory of Marla and yourself or a memory of others and her.  Whatever the memory may be I know she made us all smile. Deep down we all knew Marla's heart was pure of gold. Now that she has gone up to a better place her soul has been enriched with gold and looking down upon Balee (her beautiful daughter) , Dustin (her courageous son) , and loved ones.

Marla passed away May 6th at St John's Hospital. She battled lung cancer since she was diagnosed on October 2018. She persevered through chemotherapy and radiation. The fight in her to beat lung cancer definitely showed. On May 2nd Marla went to the emergency room with a fever and severe cough. She has been doing better after several hours. Balee and Dustin were laughing with her. They were loving her and most definitely teasing her. On May 3rd Marla was transferred to Saint John's to the ICU due to coughing blood. There Marla died and was revived. In matter of 24 hours Marla went through this 3 times. I am going to detail because we all want you to know that she was a fighter. The 3rd time she flatlined and was revived we all knew that she was seeing and hearing her loved ones in heaven. We knew she was having trouble deciding where to go. She needed time and to think about it over the next couple days.

During that time Marla was visited by many family memebers at Saint John's. She also got to hear her friends and others over the phone. We all knew she could hear us but she could also feel the love from up there. On May 6th Marla was making her decision and was slowly saying goodbye to her 2 precious kids. Her battle against lung cancer and her pain was hurtful to see. But in the end, Marla Kay Shiplet won because she gets to be up there with her husband David and her son Steven. All 3 of those souls are watching over Dustin and Balee because that is how Marla would want it.
