Mark's Hopes for the Slopes

Donation protected
Mark Soyer is an elite disabled athlete, ranked Australia’s No. 1, Olympic sit-skier, with a world ranking just outside the Top 20.

Remarkably, although he has been nominated to train with the Australian Paralympic Ski squad with a view to representing his country at the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, he has no sponsorship – and even more remarkable is that his ranking both nationally and internationally, has been achieved despite spending 75% less time on the snow, training & competing, than his nearest rivals. Perhaps even more remarkable still, is that he has managed to self-fund his skiing achievements from his own savings & small fundraising initiatives from those closest to him.

Below is an approximate breakdown of costs in order to compete at Pyeong Chang:
Compulsory training November 2017: $16,000
New bucket (Seat) for his sit ski: $ 3,000
New race skis and training skis: S 2,500
Air fares: $ 2,500
Loss of income: (Training) $10,000

To assist Mark in funding part of his expenses, a charity fundraiser auction is being organised.  This GoFundMe Campaign has been set up for those who want to support Mark but are unable to make it to the fundraiser.
