Hello.
My name is Theresa. My husband, Mark, has been doing hemodialysis for almost six years now. We have two children.
I recently was in a very bad car accident back in April of 2016 and because of the car accident I had to get neck/spine surgery back in September of 2016.
Because of the surgery, I have been unable to work nor drive. Since I can't drive, I am unable to drive my husband back and forth to his dialysis treatments which are three times a week.
I am looking for anyone who would be gracious enough to assist me in the transportation costs to and from Mark's treatments. This has become an urgent matter for us especially around the Christmas season since Mark only wants to be alive for Christmas for us, his family, and be able to continue his tratments just by getting there. Many times Mark tells me that he wishes he was in the car accident instead of me because at least then he would be able to take away my pain and suffering and still have a driver to keep him alive.
The most difficult thing is to explain to our kids that daddy may be on dialysis for the rest of his life yet they understand that daddy wants to be there for them forever.
It is certainly a commitment of ours to keep on fighting; however, the cost of hiring a driver to drive him back and forth for God knows how long if I heal so that I can drive again is costly.
It was very difficutl to estimate a goal of how much to want to raise since we can only estimate that it may cost about $80/day to hire a driver willing to take Mark on one trip per day to and from the facility for his treatments.
At thos rates it could cost almost $240 per week since he goes to those tratments three times a week.
We don't know how long I will be out of work since the Dr. tells me that medicine is not an exact science for healing. If I rush going back to work, I could permanently disable mysefl further and make our financial living situation worse.
I need the funds for Mark as soon as possible since Mark's current transportation will be cutting ties with taking Mark as their client the Friday before Christmas.
We have sought out other sources; however, they do it for profit only and we are financially strapped.
I haven't seen my husband cry many times; however, he has been doing that alot in the past few weeks since he found out his old ride no longer will have him as a client. We were told by them that it is due to financial reasons on their end since they ar a non proft organization.
Words cannot explain how overjoyed we would be for even a small bit of money to help us especially during this time of giving. Mark doesn't want anyting for Christmas as far a tnagible items, just to be able to say Merry Christmas to his family and not worry about not having future rides to dialysis after the holidays.
He keeps saying he doesn't want to be a "dead man."
