Markie's Medical Fund

On January 7th, we took my Father, Mark Fox to the ER at OSF St. Francis Medical Center for what we thought was preventative care. They immediately took him into a private room where we were surrounded by a medical team asking questions as if he was having a heart attack in that moment. That night my Father was admitted for more testing and has been at the hospital since.

He has undergone a Sono, CT scan, CATH lab, MRI’s and a Viability test. What we have learned is that Dad’s heart is now functioning at 25% when it needs to be at least 50%. He has blockage in several areas of his arteries around the 3 stents that were put in September 2012.

On Monday January 12th while in the hospital awaiting the viability test, Dad’s heart stopped. The medical team was able to revive him and he has been stable since. This episode revealed scar tissue on the heart that has the potential to cause this again in the future.

Dr.’s are insisting Dad have both a defibrillator and open-heart surgery which has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 21st at noon. As a family, we have sought the counsel of Dr.’s who practice both in the medical field and naturopathic methods.  Dad is said to be at high risk with surgery and high risk without it. Although we prefer to take the natural route as much as possible, we also believe there is a time and a place for surgery. After much prayer and consideration, we are at peace to move forward with surgery.

We will have a meeting with the Dr. who will be performing the surgery Monday afternoon. We are so thankful to be in the care of such trusted physicians. God, who is our ultimate Physician has protected Dad every step of the way to reveal the need and carry him through this process. We see His sovereign protection from giving us the sense of urgency to bring Dad in, to delaying the viability test so that he was in the hospital Monday morning when his heart stopped. We are confident God is orchestrating Dad’s care to increase his years that he may complete the mandate on his heart from God. There is much to be done on this earth through Mark Fox that has yet to be done & God will certainly complete what He has started in his life!

Both Dad and Mom are in strong spirit. Their hospital room has been a "spiritual hospital room" for many personnel. We have been able to share Jesus with many, spoken into the lives of most every nurse and prayed over all who would allow. When our spirit is strong, our flesh is secondary and God has been Faithful to keep Mom and Dad’s spirit very strong. We have had our times of tears, but we have not lost hope for one minute. Mom continues to stay by Dad’s side caring for his needs and serving him any way she can. Dad was at peace to have the surgery before the rest of us and we believe that was the preparation of God.

In the days ahead, the financial need will be great, both because of the medical care and Dad’s inability to work through recovery. Thankfully God led my parents to move in with us this last year and we are honored to support them through this past season of getting back on their feet. At this time, my husband Lonnie and I are unable to meet all the needs unfolding.

For anyone who desires to contribute towards the financial need, we have made this site available to do so. We are looking at medical expenses including physical therapy, prescriptions, medical equipment and the monthly funds to cover my parents needs beyond our ability. We are very thankful to all our friends and family for the love and support you’ve given to our family in this time. You have become a life support to us &  God continues to speak to our hearts through each of you! We so appreciate your prayers and we will continue posting updates on Face Book so you may know how to effectively cover us in prayer.

Much Love,
