Hello everyone!
This is Mark Hansen. A loving husband, father of two young women and fur-grandpa to two dogs and a cat. For some time now Mark has been enduring excruciating pain in his head and mouth. After numerous visits with dentists and doctors, Mark finally underwent a pet scan that revealed possible cancer growth in his mouth. A biopsy was performed and confirmed what doctors had suspected. On August 8, Mark was diagnosed with stage 4 oral cancer, specifically squamous cell carcinoma inside of his tongue. Due to the location of the cancer, surgical removal is not ideal nor the first course of action. For now, Mark will be undergoing 7 weeks of radiation and 3 rounds of chemotherapy. He is courageously pressing on and is in good spirits!
We are raising funds to help Mark and his family with medical and daily living expenses as well as for things such as gasoline since he will be traveling to Iowa city everyday for treatment. We appreciate any help that you are able to extend to Mark and his family. As he begins his journey to kick cancer to the curb, we ask for your generosity, prayers and well wishes!
