Sometimes, the pain and fear, and fear of more pain coming, muddies up the ability for the heart to rest in all we've been given.
I want you guys to know that Mark and I went into these recent scans prepared to receive devastating news regarding his cancer....we were able to do so because God had already prepared us for the results. We also knew that no matter what the scans determined, no matter what fear the scans unveiled, it would hold no ability to change what we have.
We have the MOST BEAUTIFUL love story....a love that has moved mountains even when we have found ourselves deep down within the valleys. We have an eternal salvation secured by the precious blood of Jesus Christ...a salvation which no man, no powers and no death can ever pry from God's almighty, righteous hand. We have three precious daughters who we've loved well...they are composed of bits and pieces of Mark and of myself and of God Himself which means the three stranded chord shall carry on throughout all of their lives, through them. We have friends and family who have loved us unconditionally, who we have loved and impacted...those who have grafted us into the very fabric of their beings, just as they have grafted into ours. We have made the very best of every card we've been dealt...it was throughout those hard dealings that we are now able to deal with cancer exhibiting grace and strength and confidence - for our existence does not cease when our earthly, temporary bodies begin its process of returning to the very dust, from which we came.
Mark has infiltrated so much of himself into what makes us, us...and because of that, he gets to live EVERY, single experience THROUGH us. He has poured every ounce of blood and sweat into our lives...that our veins and pores are now better trained to do the same for others. He has carried us through the wildfires of life and onto the shores of safety and security...that we now know how to do that for ourselves. He has led so many, so well...that we may forever lead because of his example. He has loved those hard to love, served those hard to serve and has had faith in those who have failed to have faith in him...therefore, he will be rewarded with the gift of living on through all of those who love him. No matter what side of heaven's curtain we reside on at any given time, WE LIVE.
God, Mark and I became a three strand chord the moment we said our vows...no scan, test result, cancer nor death can ever unravel that. Knowing these truths allows us to receive the most devastating of news while having strength to refuse to chase no-cure treatments...it equips us in our ability to step forward into a new season with bravery and confidence - even with quivering lips and broken hearts - bc we do so hand in hand, with God at our side.
All of this to say that, sadly, Mark's Ewing's Sarcoma has reactivated....and there is no curing treatment available for his case. We appreciate your prayers which will breathe strength into our lungs as we embark on the most difficult experience of our lives. Our Father has been preparing a place for Mark...we do not know when that place will be ready to receive him so we will absorb every single, beautiful, precious, painful, fleeting moment we have left with the most amazing man we've ever known.
