Hello to all those whom loved my father, Mark Seronko.
I am setting up this up to give the opportunity for those who would like to contribute to my father's care and do not know how to.
This money is going to his cremation, which is something that he spoke with me about before he passed. He stated that it is his wishes to have his ashes taken to Santa Ana Botanical Gardens because of his love for gardening and the beauty of nature he adored.
It's cliche to speak of my father in a manner that he was a great man, but he really was. He dedicated his life to a multitude of different endeavors, but I will name just a few.
My father frequently would help with his church community, serving as a deacon. He would also help out by providing rides when people needed help with transportation, assisting the elderly with their shopping, and by listening with an ear of non-judgement.
My dad had a very difficult time being vulnerable with people. This to be said, he cultivated some of the most beautiful relationships that could be had with Bob Hamlin, his girlfriend Tracy, me, and many others I didn't know of. It is hard to put into words how much I personally will miss him... he was the best listener and friend a son could ask for. Truth be told, he had invested in a lot of other relationships with those in his community that I hope to learn about.
My memory cannot ignore that my father struggled through his life and battled with many issues. My memory also cannot ignore that the last few years of his life he really came into his own and were the happiest I ever knew him to be. I think he finally came to a place of acceptance with his vulnerability and really opened up his heart.
I am so proud to have been part of his story, and although I am sad I will not see him in the traditional sense, I know that he lives on in all of you and me.
