As most of you know, on January 4th, 2010 Mark was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Failure(Kidney Disease). Since then, Mark has spent every day of his life on dialysis in order to stay alive. This not only consisted of daily treatments but also included an 11-hour treatment from a machine next to his bed every night.

Mark had many struggles along his journey but he has always been positive and thankful to be alive. A proud man, who wanted to provide for himself found he was a prisoner to this disease.  Simple everyday tasks such as shopping or visiting friends had to be carefully planned out.  Although Mark tried, holding a job was impossible.

On July 2nd Mark received the call he had been waiting for from UCSF. They had a kidney for him, and the kidney passed the tests. The next day Mark went into surgery and received his transplant. On July 12th Mark received word that the kidney was awake and that his long 7 1/2 year battle with time-consuming treatments could be over as soon as July 21st.

With this news, Mark is preparing for the next journey of his life. The reason I am setting up this fund is to provide Mark some financial support and more importantly a piece of mind as he recovers and gets back on his feet.  No one knows more than Mark how precious life is and important it is to be loved and supported by friends.
