Mark Madden Will Make It

Donation protected
Our good friend Mark Madden
was recently diagnosed with D Large B cell non-Hodgkins Lymphoma  that presented as a brain tumor.   This is the second time Mark has faced cancer.  In 2001 he was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma, which he successfully fought.  This latest fight will take a lot of help from friends and family.
Mark will be receiving chemotherapy treatment to try and shrink the brain tumors.  The chemotherapy will last at least 8 weeks.  During the treatment neither Mark or his wife Robin will be able to live a normal life in Remer, Minnesota.  The treatment occurs in Duluth, Minnesota which means frequent and costly trips to Duluth and the expenses associated with staying away from home.  In addition, there will be large medical bills, not all of which will be covered by insurance.
Mark has started his chemo treatments and he is fighting to maintain his health with the help of Robin.  He needs the help of his friends, neighbors and anyone with an ability to help. He has used up all his vacation and sick leave but has enough to cover the treatment time through the generous donation of time from his co-workers.
Mark Madden is a boy from the east side of St. Paul.  He went to grade school at Eastern Heights Elementary School and Battle Creek Junior High.  He graduated from Harding High School in 1979.
After high school, Mark pursued his dream of living away from the big cities.  He moved to East Farmington Wisconsin, where for a number of years he operated Madden's Bar.
After that, Mark worked for the City of St. Paul.  In 1993 he married Robin.  In 1995 Mark and Robin moved to Remer, Minnesota.  Mark worked as the pubic works department of Remer, doing whatever it took to keep the town running.
All his life Mark has maintained his love of life, especially nature.  It is why he and Robin  moved to Remer.  It is in his many fishing trips.  Mark has been fishing with us for 30 years, most often from the Lodge of the Whispering Pines north of Ely on Big Lake.  Mark is both a good fisher and a great boat partner.  He always brings the cookies for the trip, which means we don't mind the many times he has caught the biggest fish.  Mark is an east side middle class guy who has faced cancer once and now must face it again.  Mark does not ask for help but he needs help and is grateful for whatever help we can give.
If you can donate any amount to help Mark and Robin with the expenses from Mark's latest battle against cancer, the money will be used to pay his medical bills and costs of treatment.  His friends will all help but we need as many volunteers to donate as possible.  Many hands make small burdens, as they say.  Without your help, Mark and Robin could lose all they have built, their house and little farm, their future, their hope.  Please help as soon as you can.
