We ended up with more than 2 feet of water throughout our entire home resultiing in the total loss of furniture, appliances, cabinets, and flooring. We have started work to remove all sheetrock up to 4ft in most rooms as well as all wood paneling in some of the rooms and flooring throughout the house. The kitchen and bathroom were a complete loss. The water was very invasive and we are working as quickly as possible to get ahead of the mold. We are not completely sure what we will find as we remove everything...but the estimates for repairs and replacement range from $65,000-$70,000.
My wife and I both work full time to provide for our family and we don't have the extra funds to pay for all these repairs. Unfortunately, when we met with FEMA they communicated the only assistance we would receive would be for personal items deemed 'necessary' to live.
We are blessed that we are all safe and to have family that is allowing us to invade their space temporarily. But we will move to a portable trailer in our driveway and live there to prevent looting of the posessions and too help with the repairs when we are not at work or school.
It is hard to ask for help. But, there are times when we need to ask. This is one of those. We would be very appreciative of anything you might be able to do to help - funds, time, materials, etc. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and assistance.
