Mark Chelman Memorial Scholarship

Mark Chelman is the late brother of Rich Hardy of Chokio MN, Peggy Dunleavey of Woodbury MN, Jaime Chelman of Cokato MN, John Hardy Jr of Chaska MN, Bill Hardy of Las Vegas , NV, Christal Fossset of Houston TX, and Tom Hardy of Hemet CA.  He was married to Julie Chelman.

Mark started working at Chaska Yamaha when he was about 14 years old.  After he graduated high school, he continued to pursue a career in small engine repair focusing mainly on motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, and jet skies.  His passion led him to co-own Metro Motorsports in Minneapolis, Burnsville Yamaha, and Cities Edge Sports in both Chaska and Hutchinson MN.  Unfortunately, Mark passed away in 2015 at age 53 from cancer.

This scholarship will be offered, in his name, to graduating seniors at Chokio-Alberta high school in Chokio MN.   To be eligible for this scholarship, the graduating senior must have intentions on pursuing a career in small engine repair.  If the student is planning on attending trade school, the money can be used to assist with tuition.  If the student is not planning on attending school, the money can be used to purchase tools or other supplies that would further their career in small engine repair.

Mark was a very kind and loving man.  He would be overwhelmed with honor and gratitude knowing that he is helping students pursue their dreams.

Our goal is to offer a $250 scholarship each year. Any money raised over $250 will be applied to next years scholarship.
