Mark and Sandi’s Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hello, My name is Sandi Garza-Wrigley. In 2015 as most of my friends and family know, I suffered a stroke in my 40s due to a hysterectomy operation gone wrong which thereby changed our world. Though I now live with chronic pain, and limited abilities, my husband Mark Wrigley has been my rock! He is my best friend, my love and my angel on earth. In 2020, Mark suffered severe injuries because he saw a beam falling at work and he pushed two other men out of the way, thereby damaging his own body with left side injuries to include shattering his left shoulder, chest plate and wrist. This ultimately has defined him as disabled. My husband was living in silent pain because his first priority was me.

Currently, and sadly Mark is hospitalized and is in ICU and on a ventilator. As a family we have chosen not to disclose too much information about Mark’s status out of respect, dignity and the privacy of my husband. (Frankly we don’t really know all the information at this time). However, we believe that nothing happens without purpose, while this is his story to tell. I believe he is going to get better and be a motivational factor in many lives.

Due to these unforeseen circumstances with our health, I am humbled to be asking for assistance to help us through this time. I have learned that bills and financial obligations do not stop, but workman’s comp, unemployment, insurance and disability checks do. For us this happened all at the same time. It is with great humility that I am seeking support from friends and family, and compassionate people. In order to get through this challenging situation I am discovering we need help financially to continue with our health goals and other contingencies.

The most important thing for me right now is asking for prayers for my husband to fight and be taken off the ventilator with no damage done to the organs, body and brain. I also just found out the hospital my husband is at is out of our insurance network. ( I don’t have the strength or energy to think about this at this time. I am focusing on baby steps, literally because I myself just had a procedure last week that I am still recovering from). Ironically, the following day, it was as if I was auditioning for a Health Alert commercial that yes, I fell and could not get up. I don’t consider myself an old lady, but wouldn’t you know it I bruised my hip. Though we are grateful to be alive and have each other, I do not wish this circumstance on my worst enemy! (Wait, I have enemies?)

We are not the vibrant and outgoing individuals we used to be, but we know we are not done in our journey. We are needing support to help pay for our expenses we have incurred as disabled individuals, medical care and daily life. I miss my husband and want him to get better and focus on becoming strong, free from financial strain at this time. Even though my husband and I have disabilities, we are always ready to serve others together wholeheartedly when we can. It is in modesty I as for your grace and consideration of a financial gift so we can project forward from this dark cloud over our family. We will be grateful for whatever you can donate. Even as little as  $1-$5 may not seem much to you but for the price of a Starbucks Coffee you are helping us.  ( OMG ~ I sound like a commercial, I can hear “ In the arms of an Angel” song in the background  :o)  Wanting to close this on a happy note, just like our lives.  Thank you for your consideration, wonderful thoughts, donations and prayers. Many blessings to you.
