Marist Convent Sick Bay

Hi we are Julia and Banele and on the 17th of July we will be walking approximately 54km around the island of Ovalau where we have been living and volunteering as teachers for the past five months.

During our time at Marist Convent School we have noticed a real need in this school for a sick bay. We are asking kindly for you to sponsor our walk so we can fund the sick bay for these kids who desperately need a place to go during times of pain and sickness.

Every day there are multiple kids coming to school sick and falling asleep and struggling through class because their parents are busy working fulltime and are unable to look after them and the local hospital is so busy and does not cater for many people. Sick students are sent to sleep on the floor of the office or library where people are trying work around them. The school also does not have a first aid kit or medical supplies to help aid sick and injured kids.

With the money raised we will revamp an empty room into a sick bay, build 2 beds, paint the room to fill it with colour and life, we will also buy medince, a first aid kit and spare clothes.
