Hey everyone! I am running my first marathon to raise money for the local charity organization, Active Valor. Fueled by Trident Coffee, a team of dedicated athletes and I will be training for the Rock N' Roll marathon in San Diego, California on June 2nd.
As an active duty spouse, I see the sacrifices and the commitment that our service men and women put forth on a daily basis. I am choosing to start this fundraiser in hopes of giving back to those who have given everything for us. This organization is very important and incredibly life changing for those impacted by its work.
Active Valor's mission is to give new purpose to veterans by pairing them as mentors to children who have lost a parent overseas in combat, or due to PTSD related suicide.
Active Valor's program, Valor Adventures, pairs veterans one-on-one as mentors to children of our nation’s fallen military heroes, referred to as Gold Star Children. Together, they participate in specially designed Mission-Based Adventures that develop their creativity, communication skills, confidence levels, problem solving abilities, and most importantly, allow them to just be a kid for the day. Each adventure is based around different hands-on skillsets that allow our veteran mentors to truly give back to this community.
