URGENT Mario Ramirez from Hilton Head Island, SC was in a life threatening accident on the morning of April 17, 2018 and has a broken neck. Mario is a cook at One Hot Mommas Restaurant on the island. St. Patrick's Day was not a lucky day for him. His mother, Iris in the photo (her formal name is Ruqayyah) has been a long time resident. She also didn't have a good St. Patrick's Day. Mario had surgery on his broken neck and broken leg at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, Georgia on 3/20 finally. He is in ICU. In order for the broken neck to heal he will HAVE to wear the metal brace which actually has screws going into his head for THREE MONTHS. He will need constant 24-7 care. There is exposure to health care costs but mostly loss of income for both Mario at 22 years of age and his Mother has loss of income between career changes. Iris was between work having made some decisions to change her career. She also has 5 children in total and her husband is the only breadwinner. After much prayer Iris, myself as a good friend and her sister in law prayed on an amount and figured expenses. If Iris works she will be hiring someone as a caregiver which will wipe her out. If she stays home she will be the caregiver. We are running this campaign to help Iris stay at her home and watch over her son who will be in this state for unable to move in this brace. Its a very bad situation. Mario is a very sweet man and he wants you all to know he thanks you for helping him and his Mom in any way you can. He is on a lot of meds and while he still has his communication the pain is almost unbearable for him! He was airlifted after the accident and the hospital has been great.
