Marina's Medical/ Rehab Fund

Donation protected
I am Narine Israelyan, currently living in Germany. I want to share our family’s story with you, as we are in a very hard situation. During the last four years my family has done all the possible to solve this problem, but we used all our resources and now we need some help. Putting aside the difficulty of making our family story public and by sharing the difficulties we have been facing for the last years, we hope to find some help from you.

My sister Marina is 41 years old and is suffering from Myelitis. Myelitis involves the infection or the inflammation of the white matter or gray matter of the spinal cord which is a part of the central nervous system that acts as a bridge between the brain and the rest of the body. Her disease started in 2007 and dramatically worsened in 2015, leaving her disabled, without any chance of walking. It got worse with years due to a wrong treatment and lack of proper medical knowledge of the disease in Armenia. Moreover, there was not any rehabilitation center in Armenia, so doctors were not able to control her disease and keep her stable health condition.
Marina was full of life, ambitions and aspirations. She is musician and took part in different concerts and events. Now, because of her fast moving illness, she is not able to use her hands, cannot walk and has very severe pain in whole body. Two years ago she was not able to walk at all or do anything else, doctors did not give any chance of her walking, but because of her strong will, determination and short-term rehabilitation now she is able to stand, move her hands and make some steps. Anyway, now Marina is left without occupation. Moreover, because of her disability she is isolated from society and is feeling left out of life. She is not able to go outside frequently as mentioned because of her harsh pains, she is spending most of her day at home without socializing. She is not only suffering from physical pain, but also the psychological effects of not being able to live her life fully.

Leaving her hometown, two years ago she has moved to Austria seeking some help. After visiting some doctors, it became obvious for us that this illness does not have any treatment yet. The only way to make her life a little easier and reduce her pain is to enroll her to a rehabilitation program. During the past two years we have tried to raise the proper amount of money, but weren’t able to. Her disease got worse drastically during the last years. Now, in behalf of my family, I would like to ask you to help my family during these hard times. She is one of the brightest persons I had the chance to know in my life. If there is any little chance that we can help to improve her condition with this rehab, we have to try this.

During past years, I have helped my sister financially, paying her hospital bills, but now I have spent all my reasources and I am not able to help her much. This is my cry for help, as we see light fading away from her eyes, and we are not able to give any help. I am not asking too much- just small contribution can lead to her improvement. Please help me! Every dollar can make a difference in her life.
Thank you!
