When you think of Marc Alexander, there are several things you think of and it’s integrity, class and excellence, but he’s so much more than that. He’s the finest man I have ever met. And now Marc needs help from his many friends.
Marc was born and raised in San Rafael and attended schools in Santa Venicia and then attended San Rafael High School graduating in 1973. He was a pitcher on the baseball team. A few years ago Marc began to lose his cognitive abilities and dementia set in. He has been living in an assisted living facility for the last two years at a cost of close to $4K per month. Marc is not married and has no children and no immediate family in the area to assist.
There is one close friend who visits three times a week and manages his affairs and money. But the money is now gone. Marc has been qualified for a MediCal facility but at this point there are not any beds available so we need to come up with money to keep him in his current facility until a bed opens up. Then with his Social Security and MediCal he will be able to get by.
This is a wonderful season. As the seasons change, somehow our gratitude turns deeper, our devotion brighter. This is the time when our souls begin to fill with the spirit of the season, and we hunger to help those around us. From serving meals in a soup kitchen to delivering assistance to a friend, there’s an air of excitement in the bustle to assist others. We feel an extra measure of gratitude that we have so much to share.
It’s fitting that we join with others at this jubilant time of year to add our efforts to make life better for those in need. And just as the season turns, we can turn our hearts and extend to those in need. Our service becomes a celebration of all our blessings and a way of giving to our fellow man.
Marc’s future dreams and goals have vanished, but with your help we can build them up again. Each new day is a fresh start, a clean slate, a new chance to change, improve, and try again.
