Marigold was hit by a car

On thanksgiving, we let marigold the dog outside to pee like normal. Where we live, there is 10 acres of woods down a dirt road. She decided instead to hop her dunce, run down the dirt road (maybe she saw a squirrel) and got hit by a car.
she came inside and went into shock immediately. Her eyes became enlarged and her tongue hung out of her mouth, her breathing labored. I was confident she would die in the car.
we got to the emergency vet and they diagnosed her with pneumothorax and free bleeding in her abdomen. She stayed the night, and miraculously, needed no further intervention beyond rest and some oxygen. She’s home now, showing every sign of recovery.
however, emergency vets are expensive.
