Life offers all of us numerous challenges and struggles. Often we are able to overcome them alone or with just the assistance of our immediate family. Unfortunately, some challenges cannot be conquered in this fashion. Our cousin, Marie Shiffer, is facing just one of those challenges.
Marie is struggling with a life threatening condition. She has been in the hospital for almost 3 months and is now in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. Marie has been in the Intensive Care Unit for the last two weeks. She is gravely ill with heart, kidney and liver issues. She is currently undergoing dialysis on a twenty four hour basis and she is not out of the woods. As I am sure many of us understand, her family is there at her side but the expenses to be with her are increasing. The Shiffers do not have any family in the Philadelphia area and the expense of hotel stays, food and transportation costs are mounting.
Fortunately, Marie has phenomenal friends and co-workers at the Scranton School District who have helped with Fundraisers and donated hours to her. We would like to help as well. We are asking all our friends and relatives to assist us and donate whatever amount you can to help Butch, Patrick, Michael and Kate to be with her during these very difficult times. She is not out of the woods and she still must undergo major surgery down the road.
We certainly do not take this request lightly as we all have bills to pay and we know every dollar counts. Any amount is greatly appreciated and we know Marie and her entire family extend their heartfelt thanks to all who can help. Thank you for your consideration.
