Help our Mom get a car

Donation protected
Our mother Marie Williams needs a car.

Sometimes life can give you some hard knocks, and to a woman who has spent her whole life trying to take care of others, the series of hard defeats came one after the other.  Our mother lost her husband to cancer.  She lost all of her savings taking care of her children who had their own hard times.  She has lived through polio, loss of vision in one eye, loss of her two oldest sons, and all she has left to live on is her small social security benefits, which she uses mostly to help her youngest daughter, who also lost her husband to cancer at a young age.

But our mother's mind is still sharp as it ever was.  She takes it all with grace and dignity and keeps fighting on.  Our family's hard luck with cars has become part of our legacy.  For most of our lives our mother has lived with cars that are always on the verge of dying at any moment.  Sometimes they leave her stranded by the side of the road in the middle of the harsh St.Louis winters.  Using her one good arm, our mother would be outside in the cold, fixing the distributer herself, or changing a bald tire.  Instead of detailing all of the hardships and sacrfices our mother has made, wanting nothing for herself, I just ask a short plea. (Telling the whole story is too heartbreaking for anyone.)  Please help any small way you can.  The surviving children are going to pool some money to help her get a car, but we need just a little more, to make it more feasible.

She needs to be able to get to the local grocery store, and to visit her grandkids.  The car she has now can't make it any more.  It won't pass inspection. I don't want this message to be sad, but uplifting.  Our mother has taught all of us in our family how to bravely accept everything life can do, and still try your best to hold your head high and carry on for those who are still in your life.  She is a great source of inspiration and courage to all of us, and we just want to do the best we can for her now.

Thanks, and God Bless to all.
