Defray Devastating Accident Costs
Donation protected
Mariela is a 20 year old college student at Polk State College in central Florida. She lives with her mother and siblings and works as a server at a small restaurant at Lake Ashton Golf Club.
Recently Mariela and her family traveled to Mexico to attend a wedding. While returning home they were involved in a devestating accident. Attempting to avoid an oncoming truck, their vehicle overturned, seriously injuring Mariela, her mother, two brothers and sister.
Moreover, when her uncle went to retireve the family's belongings he found that thieves had taken everything. The family's clothes, and all personal belongings were stolen, including their cell phones and the laptop computer so important to Mariela's college studies.
Mariela suffered a broken arm, abdominal blood clot and internal lung and kidney bleeding. Her mother has two badly broken legs and a broken arm. After basic treatment she was transported to a hospital in south Texas. Mariel's sister suffered a neck injury and her borther remains in a Mexican hospital unable to be transported due to brain swelling.
While Mariela, her mother and siblings are American citizens with appropriate insurance, much of their financial loss will not be covered because the accident occurred in Mexico. Final out of pocket medical costs cannot be fully determined yet but certainly will be well into 6 figures and beyond the family's ability to pay. Added, while Mariela's mother will likely be able to walk again, she will miss months of work while she goes through physical therapy.
Those of us who know and care for Mary and her family ask for your help in defraying medical costs as well as assisting in replacing lost income for the family while they recover.
Any contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated.
