After being diagnosed in 2014 with advanced stage ovarian cancer and early stage breast cancer, Marie fought for years with a smile across her face and a joyful aura no matter the pain. On Thursday, August 3rd, 2017, she passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones.
Marie was an exceptional person, mother, friend, daughter, sister, social worker, mentor, and banana bread baker. Her love and support radiated out to all of those around her even through the darkest of times. Her strength in her battles was unwavering and that same strength can be seen in her two beautiful children, Lauren and Sean.
Lauren is 20 years old and a senior at Siena Heights University while Sean is 17 and starting his first year at Oakland University. Both children have selflessly been there for their mom through every step, no matter what sacrifices that meant. Marie dedicated her life to caring for those around her with a smile, hug, and kind word always. She cared about the world around her and was determined to make it a better place. She has succeeded in that goal in raising the courageous and genius children she has and spreading her love to everyone who knew her.
