As Maria & Tim were blessed with their first child, Alexander (Xander), July 16, 2014, they were so excited to begin their new journey as parents and to begin their new family. Just 3 short months into enjoying parenthood, and a few weeks before her 32nd birthday, Maria received devastating news. Maria was originally diagnosed with liver cancer, but as further evaluations were made, it was determined that she has Stage 4 Colon Cancer; most probable the source of the disease.
Maria was Valedictorian of her 2001 graduating class at Line Mountain High School, a 2005 graduate of Kutztown University & a graduate of Penn State University, State College Campus, completing her master's degree in Speech Therapy.
She is an avid traveler spending time in Italy, Germany, Peru, Ecuador, Hawaii, and even taught for a time in Spain.
As an avid outdoors person, she enjoys rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, skiing, jogging, and most recently, walking Xander in his stroller.
This news suddenly changed life all around her. It is heart breaking to see her facing this ruthless disease. We know her strong will and determination will help her get through this battle, but it’s going to be a tough journey. Maria always manages to find fun in everything she does, and although this fight will be anything but fun, we know she will give it her all to be a survivor. She is focused on beating this, but needs the love and support of us all.
All of us who know Maria, knows she is always upbeat, bubbly and full of life. She exhibits such enthusiasm in whatever she does. She has a deep passion for her husband & new son, enjoyment for her family and friends, and dedication to her job as a bi-lingual speech pathologist. She always gives everything she does 110%. Now she needs us to give whatever we can.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to help defray the medical expenses that will not be covered by her health insurance. We are here to support her through this difficult time. Please join us and donate.
