Hello, my name is Rachelle Ortwine. I have known Matt Castillo my whole life, his wife Jerilynn is my best friend, and her children are like my own. Their daughter Mariah is on the Mott dance team and their son Matthew plays on varsity for the football team.
As you may or may not know, on Thursday September 21, 2017 Mariah Castillo collapsed and was rushed to Detroit Children’s Hospital. From there, it was determined that she had a large tumor on her heart and on Friday September 22, 2017 she underwent open heart surgery to have the tumor removed. Thankfully, the team at Detroit Children’s Hospital was able to remove the tumor and Mariah is on the road to recovery.
While the Castillo family is focusing on Mariah’s recovery, the medical bills are adding up and their insurance is only covering a small fraction of the cost. We are reaching out to the Mott community, family, and friends to help cover some of their out of pocket costs. Any amount donated will help and is greatly appreciated.
