<div>Maria Fernanda Silva Moles is a 27-year-old vivacious, bold, and compassionate woman who lives her life as beautifully as she is. Originally from Santiago, Chile, she moved to the U.S. in 2019 and is a proud mom of two cats, Tricky and Peach.

<div>Since 2021, Maria has dedicated herself to working as a CNA, driven by her belief in the power of compassion and knowledge to uplift those in poor health or low spirits. She works two jobs—one at an assisted living facility and the other on the Med-Surg 3 unit at Kaiser Westside Hospital in Hillsboro, Oregon—where she brings patient-centered care to life. Maria has a gift for entering her patients’ world with them, offering comfort and lighting up the room for both those she cares for and the coworkers lucky enough to work alongside her.

<div>Now, Maria is facing her own battle. She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The news came as a shock to her family, friends, and coworkers, but Maria is meeting it head-on with the same strength and determination she shows every day at work. She has begun an aggressive treatment plan of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, which has already taken a toll—leaving her dizzy, fatigued, and struggling with pain, nausea, and sores that make even eating difficult.

<div>Despite all of this, Maria still pushes herself to work when she can. With her mother by her side for support, Maria remains her only source of income. But the burden of medical costs, lost wages, and day-to-day living expenses is overwhelming.
