Maria & Olivia Climbing Mount Snowdon!

In September 2019, Maria’s Dad Joe or as Maria calls him Papa Jose was diagnosed with Liposarcoma Cancer. Soft tissue sarcomas are a group of rare cancers affecting the tissues that connect, support, and surround other body structures and organs and can develop in any part of the body. It was while Maria’s parents were back in Malta visiting family when Joe’s cousin suggested he see her doctor as he was becoming severely ill. Doctors suggested he immediately goes into hospital and specialists found that he had two tumours growing. The tumours had been growing for 10 years and weighed 18KG. Upon coming back home to London he began treatment and had an operation at The Royal Marsden Hospital in South Kensington where they successfully removed the tumours and is now cancer free!!  

Maria’s amazing friend Olivia is also doing the walk because like Maria, cancer has affected her family but also her auntie passed away to cancer and that is why they want to raise as much money as they can so that they can support people who are currently suffering. 

On the 26th of June 2021, Maria and her friend Olivia will be climbing Mount Snowdon at night in Wales to raise money for The Royal Marsden! Maria witnessed firsthand the care of the nurses and doctors and was amazed! For most people being diagnosed with cancer is a low point in their lives but The Royal Marsden gives every cancer patient the best treatment they can get. Your donations mean more funding for the hospital e.g., medical equipment, funding for staff, beds and much more!
