Would you help me in supporting a local family in Coastal North Carolina who lost it all as a result of Hurricane Florence?
Justin and Kristina Shortt live in Rocky Point, North Carolina. They proudly own and home just down the street from Kristina's parents with their two kids, Rylee, 11 and Brantley, 6.
Just last week, Hurricane Florence blew through the Wilmington area and Pender County, causing this family's home to flood completely from the rising river. The Shortt's do not have flood insurance because their home is not in a FEMA-designated Flood Zone. They filed a claim after the Hurricane with their Homeowner's insurance company, who basically said that there is nothing they can do. They are left with no home, no salvageable belongings. Nothing.
Through our Keller Williams Market Center, we have launched an Adopt a Homeowner Program. Each agent adopts one family in the community that has been devastated by Hurricane Florence and assesses their immediate need. I got connected with the Shortt family through an agent friend of mine in the Washington D.C. area. She was a "friend of a friend" with the family and let me know that they were perfect candidates for our program!
Would you be willing to help me get Justin and Kristina at least enough money to cover food, transportation and housing for the next few weeks? They are staying in a 2 bedroom house right now with friends who also have 2 small children. Both Justin and Kristina have already gone back to their full-time jobs even though their home are under water. They have to make money for their family and their kids are still out of school.
