Marge's Medevac Help

Donation protected
As many of you know, Marge has had a tough couple of years after losing her life partner, John. Shortly after losing John, she was diagnosed with cancer. A recent diagnosis showed the cancer was getting worse. On February 16, 2023, she went on a special vacation to St.Lucia with her family, which she was extremely excited about and looking forward to for a long time.

On February 19, 2023, Marge took a horrible fall on rocky terrain on her way to a beach, located between the Gros Piton mountains. This was not an easy place to extract her from and initial medical care was at a small hospital in the fishing village of Soufriere. The wonderful staff there did what they could but did not have the resources for x-rays or other necessary treatment, so they stitched up her head and sent her to St. Jude’s in Vieux Fort.

At St. Jude’s, they discovered Marge had broken four ribs and punctured her lung. They kept her for a day and then released her with anti-inflammatory and antibiotic medications. She was hopeful she could convalesce by the pool at the Airbnb and salvage some of her vacation, but the following day she took a downward turn. Her family called an ambulance because she was barely conscious and was bleeding internally. She was taken back to St. Jude’s and admitted to the surgical wing, where she remains. She still needs blood and some other basic care which, unfortunately, are not available where she is.

Currently, Marge is stabilized and arrangements are being made to airlift her to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami so she can receive the treatment she needs. The medical evacuation is extremely expensive and not covered by medical insurance. Additionally, all expenses to date have been out of pocket. Lodging expenses for a family member to remain in Miami will add up quickly. Since Marge will not be able to fly commercially for quite some time, the current plan is to rent a car and drive her home.

Thank you for any help you may provide. If you cannot donate, that’s okay. Please share this post and help Marge recover from a dream vacation that has become a complete nightmare. Thank you.
