We are a group of small business owners in Marda Loop who care deeply about our community, its vibrant local businesses and the people who live, work, and visit here.
Over the past 2 years, more than 40 of our 170+ local businesses have closed, with ongoing construction cited as the primary reason. These closures represent more than empty storefronts, they represent lost livelihoods, fractured community connections and a shrinking local economy. Small businesses in Marda Loop, and elsewhere, donate to charities, local events, sporting teams and participate in the community, this is why we cannot tolerate mismanaged construction to harm our communities and close our businesses.
We have come together to file a class action lawsuit against the City of Calgary. Our goal isn't just compensation, it's to push for systemic change in the way the City plans, communicates and implements major construction projects all across the City.
We have already paid over $26,000 in legal fees to bring this case forward and now we are asking for your support, whether you are a fellow business owner, a loyal customer or a concerned neighbor.

Why It Matters
This fights is about more than one street, or one lawsuit, it's about ensuring that small businesses are part of the conversation when major city projects are planned. We believe in a future where community, construction, and commerce can work together, and your support helps make that possible.
Sincerely, your community businesses.
