Marcus Freed needs a miracle. Let that miracle be you. This past Friday night Nov. 3 Marcus was walking home from synagogue, was hit by a car and rushed to the hospital for emergency brain surgery. Pictured here is Marcus the next day post-surgery with his dear friend Barak Raviv, together holding a mezuzah while blood continues to drains from Marcus' brain. Miraculously Marcus came out of the surgery successfully, is out of ICU and is lucid but continues to recover at Cedars-Sinai Hospital.
TRAGICALLY we do not have the identity of the driver who got away with it. There is no one’s insurance to pay for his medical care. As an artist Marcus does not have private insurance or disability coverage to cover his bills and keep him afloat while he recovers. There is no obvious safety net when you are an artist.
Marcus J Freed has dedicated his life to being a Jewish teacher, actor and author. He has taughtTorah values and life lessons globally through his writing, one-man plays, books, bibliyoga, and the hundreds of dynamic, creative Shabbat services he’s led throughout the world.
But Marcus only has basic public health coverage which covers very little. Thank G-d he survived and with massive prayers the doctors say he will make a full recovery but his medical bills will total at least $100,000. Today his father asked me to launch this campaign.
This is an impossible number for Marcus alone, but it IS possible if every soul who’s been touched by him gives.
If you've seen him perform one of his one man shows on the biblical kings, read one of his Kosher Sutra books, listened to one of his lectures, ate Shabbat dinner at his home, attended one of his Sabbath services, was inspired at one of his Soul Revival sessions, prayed with him with JConnect, heard him blow the shofar at Pico Shul, or merely was lucky enough to be his friend or received the kindness he showed everyone, please give today and share this campaign.
I've known Marcus since 2010 when I saw him teach and perform at LimmudLA. I was so inspired by him I sponsored his Visa to move from London to LA. My name was on his first passport here! I love Marcus like you do!
Together we can far surpass $100,000 and give him enough funds to pay his bills, recover, regain his strength and continue to feed our souls.
