Marcus-David Peters

“Justice and Reformation” was created in response to the unjustified murder of the late Marcus-David Peters by a Richmond, VA police officer on May 14, 2018 while Marcus was unarmed, completely undressed and experiencing his very first mental health crisis. The officer devalued Marcus’s life, dehumanized him, and acted as Judge, Jury, and Executioner on the spot. Marcus-David Peters deserved #HelpNotDeath. 

Marcus-David Peters was an amazing Black man, son, brother, uncle, graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, high school biology teacher, mentor and beloved community member. The family of the late Marcus-David Peters immediately jumped into action to fight for legislative changes to ensure that having a mental health crisis does not result in a death sentence. 



****Please note that Marcus’s family has only created this campaign as many people have expressed the desire to donate to his family. We are not asking for donations, however, for those who feel moved  to make donations please know that all funds are greatly appreciated and will go toward supporting Marcus’ family as we continue to fight to ensure that the demands for the Marcus Alert System and Independent Civilian Review Board are met, continue to fight to ensure that our local and state legislators not only say that Black Lives matter but make concrete legislative changes to ensure that Black Liberation Matters and that put Community Care and Safety first and always. ****
