Marcus Needs Our Help

Donation protected
Marcus Taylor is 14 year old who lives in Tulsa, OK.  On Monday, September 17, 2018, Marcus was on his way to school, walking to his bus stop when he was hit from behind by a SUV.  The force of the impact sent young Marcus flying into the air where he landed several feet away in a ditch.  The driver of the vehicle that hit Marcus responded by putting Marcus in his vehicle and rushed him to the nearest hospital for emergency services.

Surgeons removed a portion of his skull to try and relieve pressure from brain swelling resulting from severe head trauma.  Marcus suffered fractures to the base of his neck, right arm, right kidney and at the base of his spine at the sacrum.  He was transported from Tulsa by Life Flight to the OU Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.   There Marcus was met by a team of Neurosurgeons and Child-Trauma Specialists who began emergency life-saving procedures to save Marcus' life.

As of this writing, Marcus has remained in a closely monitored medically induced coma for 8 days to allow his brain to heal and recover.  He has received two blood transfusions.  The amount of harm resulting from the accident will not be completely known until Marcus is stable enough to wake from the coma and undergo further evaluation and assessment,   Although his prognosis is guarded, the family remains hopeful and sees signs of gradual progress.  Marcus faces many challenges and additional surgeries in the weeks and months ahead.  Once awake and stable, he will be transferred to a rehabilitation center in Bethany, OK for an unknown amount of time.   Marcus will need to wear a neck brace for at least 8 weeks and his skull will not be reattached for at least 3 months.

At the side of her beloved son, Yama is the loving, caring, compassionate mother of Marcus.  She is a dedicated single mother.  Yama is employed as a nurse and is greatly respected and loved by her family, friends and community.  Since the accident, Yama has constantly remained with Marcus at the hospital.  With the loss of family income and long-term medical expenses for Marcus, this will have a huge financial impact on Yama and her family.  Due to the distance from Tulsa, Yama is unable to receive frequent visits from family and friends who can offer emotional support.

I can think of no better way to honor Marcus and Yama than by reaching out to the community and asking for prayers, support, and a demonstration of love through this Go Fund Me campaign.  Please follow you heart.
