<div>On November 26, 2025, our beloved brother, father, son, and community leader Marcos Aguilar Rojas was assassinated in the communal territory of El Caracol, in the Indigenous Autonomous Tepehuano + Wixarika Community of San Lorenzo de Azqueltán, in Jalisco, Mexico.

<div>This was a planned political execution carried out by regional land-grabbing corrupt (caciques) and protected by a system of impunity involving judicial and state actors.
</div>

<div>Marcos was targeted because he defended his ancestral territory and refused to abandon his family or his community under threat. Marcos was a devoted son who cared for his elders, a humble and generous man who listened to Mother Earth, and a father raising five young children — including two babies — to honor and protect the land that sustains us. His children are the seeds he leaves behind. They deserve a future rooted in the land he died protecting.
