Marco's Education Expenses

I am currently a first-year student at UW-Madison, well not for long. As of now I will not come here this spring. Not because I don't want to, but because my enrollment is on hold at the moment due to unpaid fees (tuition and housing). Let me start from the very beginning. When I was about three years old I came to the United States illegally, not by choice of course. Up until the age of fourteen I never truly realized how different the lives between illegal immigrants and U.S. citizens were. As a child I always thought that everyone had the same opportunities to get to the same place. During elementary and middle school I was the same as everyone else, or at least that's what I thought. When I went to highschool that's when I realized that all of my previous perceptions on my life were wrong. I did not have the same opportunities as everyone else. My legal status was more visible and my dreams of going to college seemed to be  just that, dreams. Until the Obama administration passed DACA, which allowed me to have a more normal life as an "American". When this was passed I was so happy. I thought that now nothing could stop me from achieving my goals. I was in the top 5% of my class. I had more than a 4.0 GPA (weighted). When it was time to apply to universities I applied to the one school that I thought would be the best for me, UW Madison. When I was accepted last January I felt something that words could not explain. I am the second one of my siblings to graduate from highschool, and I do have a lot of siblings. Now I am the first one to attend college. Throughout last year I realized that DACA does really affect college cost. I am being charged out state tuition, even though I have lived in Wisconsin for about fifteen years. Also, I am not eligible to apply for many many scholarships/FASA. I knew this about four months before the school year started and it was to late too change school by then. My friends and family have helped me raise some funds, but I still need $1500 to be able to attend this spring.
