Help Marco Live His American Dream

Donation protected
I know you are busy so firstly let me thank you for taking the time to read my story. I came to the United States in 2010 with one dream in mind: to make it through College and pursue my dreams in a country that, although not mine from birth, I have always felt a strong connection to.

Through help from my family and working as a student I paid my way through College, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor in Business Management (Entrepreneurship concentration) at DePaul University in Chicago.

Getting legal work in the U.S. first as a student and then as a graduate has not been easy. Finding a company that not only wanted to hire me but took the chance with me and sponsored my H1-B Visa was hard and a long, streneous process, which ultimately already cost $8,000. Through it all I persevered, put my head down, worked hard and made many personal sacrifices to continue on the road towards my goal of remaining in the country legally through lawful employment.

I do not tell many people this but I live a fairly frugal life in order to make everything I do happen. I have been living on a couch for over a year and while I have been fortunate enough to do some travels over the last year, these have mostly been paid by and for work and to travel to Italy to remove a tumor I was diagnosed with last year (the operation went well and I am in the clear now!)

My H1-B Visa expires in September 2018, and with a year left to apply for a Green Card to stay in the United States it is now time for me to put all the eggs I can find in this basket and do whatever it takes to make this happen. I have consulted an immigration attorney and it will take roughly $18,000-20,000 to ensure that I do not have to leave the country next year. This will go toward renewing my Visa for 3 more years by April and finally applying for my Green Card in time to secure my permanent American residency.

Becoming a permanent resident and, ultimately, an American citizen, is THE most important thing in my life after the health of my family and loved ones. I have never wanted anything more than being an integral, contributing and working member of this country, and to do it the legal way and I will do whatever it takes to make it happen within the boundaries of the law.

In all honesty I cannot imagine living anywhere other here, both because of the way I have adopted American life and what this country truly means to me, as well as the amazing people I have met along my journey.

I truly hate asking for money which is why I do not expect all of it to come from the help of friends and family, but it has come to a point where I could really use any help I can get. I have been working to save up for these necessariy immigration steps and any help that I can get to alleviate what is going to be a heavy financial burden will go a long way in making my dream of becoming an American a reality.

Grazie mille for your support and generosity, I hope to be able to repay every single person that helps in some way, as well as to repay the goodness of America as a country through honest work and contribution.
