Marcie’s Road(rash) To Recovery
My sister Marcie was involved in an accident on Sunday, June 14th 2020. When she was just about to enjoy a gorgeous day on Carlyle Lake in Carlyle, IL with Bryan, their three kids, Bentley, Barrett, and Emery, and Bryan’s nephew, she left everyone at Bryan’s truck as she walked to go to the bathroom. On her way over, she was backed over by a car that sped backwards uncontrollably and she ended up underneath the car.
She was taken by ambulance to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO and ended up being admitted to the ICU with multiple breaks in her spine (which required major surgery Monday morning to insert metal rods and screws into her spine), internal injuries, an injured right knee, and multiple scrapes, cuts, and lacerations all over her body, including her face.
As her big brother, my heart is absolutely broken for her and for my nephews and niece. None of us are able to go visit her because of the protocols put into place from COVID, so she’s in ICU by herself.
We decided to start this because she’s going to have quite a lengthy road to recovery that will be very expensive. She’ll require tons of therapy, equipment to be somewhat mobile, and she’ll still have her living expenses without the ability to earn income.
All donations, big or small, will be so appreciated by her and our family! The outpouring of love and support that we’ve all received since Sunday has been heartwarming beyond measure. Please continue to pray for Marcie and send her great healing vibes. Trust me, we’ve felt all of those! If you’d like to donate or help in other ways, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Thank you for reading and again, I can’t thank each and every one of you enough for your support!
