Marc Elizondo Memorial Fund

On Thursday, January 11th, Marc passed away after a car accident. He will be profoundly missed by his family, Louis, Arleen, Jon Paul, and Clare; by his friends; and by everyone that he touched during his 19 years with us. Marc was a San Antonio native and was salutatorian of Antonian College Preparatory High School and valedictorian of Holy Spirit Catholic School. He had just completed his first semester at Texas A&M University with a 4.0 in biomedical engineering. Marc was a state champion tennis player. He dismantled opponents with his beautiful forehand and, at times, by simply refusing to lose. After high school, he taught tennis to children ages 3-9 on his semester breaks. The kids enjoyed his incredible sense of humor. Our family likes to think that we’re a funny group, but the truth is Marc had been getting the better of us for many years. He was incredibly kind, caring, hardworking, and strong. In February 2016, he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, a painful and incurable autoimmune disease. Despite this hardship, Marc never complained and planned to spend his life researching a cure for his disease; he had already become involved in biomedical research at Texas A&M and was contacting experts all over the country for guidance. In addition to his studies, Marc was incredibly devoted to his Catholic faith and made his relationship with God his number one priority. Marc lived in a way that made everyone around him want to be better. He really was the best.

We are establishing this memorial fund in honor of Marc. It will be used to create a scholarship to support Catholic students at Texas A&M. We hope in this way to help a few students grow academically and spiritually, both of which Marc always strived to do.
