Beating Brain Cancer

Donation protected
On the 23rd August, the day after Marcel's 36th birthday, he received the devastating news that he had a very extensive, inoperable and incurable brain tumour which had woven its way through the right side of his brain. This tumour had likely been growing for years, unbeknownst to him, and was so large that surgery to remove it entirely was not a viable option. This wonderful family man who is a devoted husband, father, son and friend has been forced to take extended leave from his work as a dentist to fight this disease. All this has come less than a year after achieving his ultimate goal; going into partnership with his younger brother (also a dentist), and purchasing a dental surgery. He was suddenly unable to drive and unable to continue the adventurous outdoor activities that he enjoyed with family and friends. Without immediate treatment Marcel faced significant loss of movement and vision, along with debilitating seizures.

An initial surgery was undertaken in September to remove a small portion of the tumour with the intention to treat the remainder with radiation and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the tumour progressed in such a way that this treatment was no longer viable and a second invasive surgery became the only option to give Marcel the best chance of survival.

Last week Marcel had a radical resection on his brain to remove most of the tumour. He has spent the last week in ICU in an induced coma and his road to recovery is likely to be long. As you can imagine, there are significant costs associated with treatment, rehabilitation, the loss of income, and the continued living expenses for their family of 5. For the duration of Marcel’s recovery and rehabilitation, Lauren will be Marcel’s full time carer as well as mother to their 3 beautiful children aged 4, 6, and 9, whilst still maintaining her role within their family business.

Marcel has an amazing capacity to help others and is always willing to support and care for his family and friends. He is a proud family man, valuing and enjoying time spent with loved ones above all else. He is now in a position where he needs others to carry him through. Our family is asking for your help to assist and support Lauren and their children Eli, Estelle, and Andre through this challenging time. Marcel’s recovery will be a long journey and we hope that with the generosity of others we can help ease their financial burden throughout this time. We are praying that his healing will come, and we are, in advance, grateful for those who will support the Muller family.

Thank you for your generosity, every little bit counts as we pursue healing and rehabilitation for Marcel.
