MarbleWatch: Photos for the Planet
MarbleWatch is a not-for-profit youth environmental initiative, launched and maintained by high school students in the Greater Seattle Area, WA, USA.
Our aim is to encourage communities to use photography as a means of raising awareness of overlooked local environmental issues, to kickstart community mobilization where it is needed. Anyone can make a 30-second pledge to do their part through our website, and anyone can submit photos of environmental degradation in their area through the same site. We'll use these photos to draw attention to the target issues to the best of our ability. Through our method, anyone can be an environmental activist. All it takes is a digital camera, and even a smartphone is suitable for this cause.
By crowdsourcing documentation of local environmental degradation through photography, we aim to support community activists, even youth such as ourselves, gather the necessary momentum to address any community-scale environmental issue in their area.
Donations will go towards keeping our website up and running, and to fund programs such as our upcoming summer Environmental Activism and Photography Challenge, where we aim to provide grants to youth-led community environmental projects aligning with our mission and using photography to make a difference.
Please check out our website at marblewatch.org for more information, and to join our cause!
Thank you so much for your financial support!
