MarbleCity Opera Season Sponsorship

Marble City Opera is a chamber opera company in Knoxville, TN that was founded in May 2013 by two opera singers determined to make a difference in the community and opera industry!

Marble City Opera's mission is to develop a new audience for opera by making opera more accessible. They are doing this by performing in smaller venues that provide a social atmosphere with affordable ticket prices, exciting concepts, outstanding singing and excellent acting!

Today Marble City Opera has recently become a member of Opera America, and has produced 10 events, including 4 main stage productions with chamber orchestra, and received glowing reviews from the local press!

Last season Marble City Opera was awarded The Most Memorable Operatic Experience in Knoxville of 2014, for Kathryn Frady's performance in their World Premiere production of Amelia Lost!  See reviews here:

This season will start during National Opera week on Octobert 29th at Scruffy City Hall with a performance of Ghosts of Crosstown.  Ghosts of Crosstown is an opera cycle inspired by the 1927 Art Deco architecture of the Sears Crosstown Building and the ordinary lives of the people who worked and shopped there. The librettist for all 5 shorts is Jerre Dye, and the music for each was written by a different up and coming composer.

Also coming this season, a free performance of Amahl and the Night Visitors at St. John's Cathedral downtown Knoxville on Dec. 4 at 7:30pm and Dec. 6 at 3:00pm. This family friendly Christmas opera will be a fun event for the whole family.

This Spring, Marble City Opera will be producing the professional premiere of Sweets by Kate by Griffin Candey. This comic opera is about a couple who returns to their small home town after Elizabeth's parents have passed away to take over her parents' bakery. The couple must decide how to overcome the challenges they face with each other, the townspeople, and Carl (who may or may not be Satan).

Marble City Opera continues to be able to prove that excellent theater can happen anywhere, however, producing opera is expensive, and we need your help!!
